The Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend is upon us, which means Brooks has finally released their special runDisney-inspired shoes again. Starting with the 2025 Springtime Surprise, Brooks is now on their second iteration of designs. Once again, they have pushed out the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Ghost Max 2's, along with the more generic runDisney Adrenaline 24's. All three designs sold out pretty quickly when they went online following the Springtime Surprise weekend, and I imagine they may go quickly again this time around. All three designs were great, with stylized midsoles and very "Disney" uppers.
In addition to the three holdovers, Brooks has also come out with two colorways inspired by the Disney Villain theme for their Ghost 17 line. Both designs are fairly similar, with one primarily black with purple and teal-ish trim and the other dark purple with black, teal, and yellow Disney-themed laces. It looks like both versions also have a yellow outsole, as well as reflective heels with the Disneyland lettered logo.
I'm glad Brooks branched out in adding the newer Ghost 17 model to their staple of runDisney shoes. Year in and year out the Brooks Ghost line is among the highest-selling running shoes in the U.S., and this year's 17 model looks quite a bit sleeker than previous models. The Ghost line is what most American runners think of when it comes to daily trainers, and I know quite a few people who will wear their Ghosts for every run until they literally fall apart (which shouldn't happen until you're pushed 700 or more miles). The Springtime Surprise lineup consisted of three colorways in the Ghost Max 2 model and one in the Adrenaline 24. Looking ahead, Brooks is anticipated to drop the Glycerin Max 2, Adrenaline 25, and Launch 12 lines in late fall to early winter, so I'd expect to see those featured for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon and Walt Disney World Marathon weekends. Personally I always tend to have a pair of Brooks Glycerins in my arsenal, and with an anticipated release of the Glycerin 23 in February 2026 I'm holding out hope they will get a Princess Weekend colorway.
As for the Halloween/Villain designs, while I like the overall colorway I feel like Brooks left a little on the table in more elaborate elements. You can't tell me there wouldn't be a huge run on shoes with Cruella-inspired black-and-white (maybe dalmatian spots, if you want to go dark?) or Ursula tentacles adorning the upper and midsole. Brooks has historically had some really cool themed shoes, with Turkey Trot and Christmas designs as well as my favorite Froot Loop Glycerin 20's. Even the Mickey and Minnie designs are more creative. Hopefully with the next few races Brooks has some extra tricks to pull out, especially with Marathon Weekend only a few more months away.
