Registration for the 2027 Princess Half Marathon Weekend is just around the corner as we finally get a look at the new themes. The princesses featured in 2026 all seemed thematically linked in seeking to break the mold and chart their own course. This year I'm having a harder time seeing the ties between the various princesses chosen by runDisney. Perhaps this is mostly a function of runDisney only getting to use official Disney Princesses instead of branching out into other avenues (I would love to see princess-adjacent characters like Venellope Von Schweetz, Maid Marian, or Bo Peep get in on the action), but this year definitely seems like they wanted to use the same color schemes as 2026 and just shoe-horned in four random picks. Nothing against any of the princesses chosen individually, but there seems to be less cohesion this year. Moreover, the character design seems to fall more in line with past years instead of 2026's really cool mosaic and stained glass looks.

Tiana from The Princess and the Frog is the featured 5k princess. From the runDisney website: "We’ve got a little something to run bayou. We think that letting the good times roll with Tiana for 3.1 miles on February 26 would be a total dream come true."
Following the "green=5k" after Merida last year, we get to see Tiana featured in 2027. Tiana is my daughter's favorite princess of the moment (she picked the Tiana dress for her last Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience), and Tiana often ranks as one of the best princess interactions in the parks. Hopefully Louis and some other characters like Mama Odie and Dr. Facilier make appearances on the course.

On the heels of the latest live-action bomb (I know most of them make a boatload of money, but just leave the animated classics alone!), Snow White is featured for the 10k. From runDisney: "Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s 6.2 miles you go. But only if you join Snow White for this fairy tale race on February 27. Don’t let any evil queens or apples get in your way!"
As the original Disney Princess, Snow White is never too far away from getting in on the Princess Weekend lineup. I like the inclusion of the apple in the design, as well as the Evil Queen's crown at the top. Other than that, this one is kind of "meh".

For the Half Marathon we have Jasmine from Aladdin! From runDisney: "Calling all athletes, diamonds in the rough, sultans and so on. On February 28, find new horizons (and the finish line) to pursue during 13.1 miles hosted by Jasmine. Please note that utilizing a magic carpet or a genie will be considered cheating."
Aladdin was one of my favorites as a kid, and Jasmine is a great character (and contrary to my above statement about Snow White, the live-action Jasmine was great, too). Jasmine has had a lot of use in runDisney races, and Aladdin/Genie were just featured in the 2026 Springtime Surprise. Not much else to say about this design - the font looks like something I'd see on an art poster, I guess?

The Little Mermaid herself, Ariel highlights the Fairytale Challenge. Writes runDisney: "When you take on the 10K and the half marathon, you’ll leave with three amazing medals…including a challenge medal featuring Ariel. So don’t flounder around. Register today!"
Everyone loves Ariel, although I always find her inclusion in runDisney ironic considering how she famously has trouble walking even as she first gets her human legs. Maybe runDisney should try a triathalon with Ariel taking center stage in the swimming portion! Overall the themes aren't too exciting and it's hard to tie them all together. However, I'm sure they'll still sell out quickly (I really enjoyed my first Princess Weekend experience) and hopefully the medals continue to push the envelope.
