2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Medal Reveal

We're about three months away from the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon, which means we finally get a look at the new medals. The 2026 theme centers around story genres with each race sticking to a different story device. The WDW Marathon Weekend medals are typically my favorite, featuring the same order of Pluto, Chip/Dale, Donald/Daisy, Mickey/Minnie, Goofy, and Dopey in varied designs. This year's medals each have a pretty prominent book as a "framing device" (sorry, not sorry) for the medal. The 5k medal above features Pluto in space for the "science fiction" theme. As these haven't been displayed in person yet, there's no way to tell if the helmet moves around at all as it looks slightly elevated from the background.

The 10k medal featuring Chip and Dale is always my favorite, and this medal follows the "detective story" theme. Once again, it looks like Dale is slightly elevated, so he's either able to slide away from Chip or he's on a spring to wobble away from the crime scene. I especially like the orange birds checking things out from above.

Finally Dopey adorns the "fairy tale"-themed medal for completing all four weekend races. Like the Goofy medal, the Dopey one doesn't exactly scream "fairy tale", but I do like the gemstones and the track that conjures up the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Some will quibble about Dopey carrying four medals when you really walk away with six, but chances are by the time you finish the Marathon on Sunday you won't even notice.

According to runDisney, the Goofy theme is "comedy". I'm not sure how the water jug and trophies relate to comedy, but Goofy pulls it off because he is always funny. Kudos for throwing the three medals around Goofy's neck for the half, full, and Goofy medals.

Out of the 2026 batch of medals, the Marathon featuring Mickey and MInnie in an "adventure" theme is probably the coolest looking one. Between the colors, the flames, and the (possibly spinning?) Mickey ear shield, this one is very sharp.

The half marathon's theme is very obviously "love story", and the designers went all out. With hearts galore and a big kiss from Daisy to Donald, this almost looks more like a Valentine's Day theme than simply a love story. The "2026" on Daisy's behind is a choice.
