The last Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend before going on hiatus sold out on Day 1, with the Half Marathon lingering until late Tuesday night. The Disneyland 5k, 10k, and Dumbo Double Dare Challenge were all gone within the first hour of registration, followed by the runDisney Yoga and the Kids Races (which have yet to make it back to the WDW races). The 5k and 10k races at Disneyland have been immensely popular as the proximity of Disneyland and California Adventure allows runners to stay in the parks for the vast majority of the runs without all the back roads for most of the WDW races. However, the latest iteration of the Half Marathon has been somewhat less popular given half the race is just around the streets of Anaheim (minus Angel Stadium of yesteryear) with no character stops and little Disney magic once you leave the parks. Yes, every other race in the world is just along streets, but people sign up for runDisney to run Disney, so running around a neighborhood for about 6 miles is not ideal. Nonetheless, the Half Marathon finally sold out just before midnight.

I made a half-hearted attempt to sign up for the races as I tried thinking of ways to convince my family to trek out to Disneyland for the trip. I used a couple browsers - one signed in at 9:45am EST and another right at 10am - for experiment's sake. I initially got the "more than an hour" message initially but after some time bouncing around I finally got through to registration around 10:53am from my first browser (the second one was about four minutes behind). By that time all I had left was Yoga, Kids Races, and Half Marathon. After given a less-than-tepid response to a soft pitch to go to Disneyland, I decided to bow out.

If you got shut out of your race be sure to check out my post on Registration for options - there's still hope!
